Renewed every 12 months
The policy renews on the same anniversary date each year with an FCA-authorised UK insurer, and the depot copy is dated and initialled at renewal.
£10m per single incident
Cover set at £10 million per incident — double the £5m statutory minimum required by the Employers’ Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969.
Every crew member named
Full-time drivers, loaders, apprentices, and any day-labour we sign in through the DBS-checked roster are all on the same policy for the shift.
FCA-authorised UK insurer
Written by a UK insurer regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority — not an offshore broker or narrow-scope waste-industry mutual.
Displayed at the depot
The current certificate is on the depot wall as the Health and Safety Executive requires, plus a laminated copy in every van’s cab.

“Our building insurer needed the certificate before the block would let contractors work in the communal areas. The office emailed it over inside 20 minutes and the concierge approved the crew the same morning.”

What is employer’s liability insurance and why does the certificate matter to me as the customer?
It’s the insurance that pays if a crew member is injured on your property while clearing your rubbish. Without it, an injured worker could pursue you as the site owner. Our £10m certificate means their medical costs, rehab, and lost earnings come out of our policy, not your household or building insurance.
How much cover do you actually carry?
£10 million per incident on employer’s liability, and £5 million on public liability. The Employers’ Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969 sets a legal minimum of £5m — we carry double.
Who is the policy with?
An FCA-authorised UK insurer. The insurer, policy number, and renewal date are printed on the certificate itself; we email a current PDF in under 10 minutes if your block manager, letting agent, or insurer needs to see it before the van arrives.
Can I see the certificate before I book?
Yes. Email the office and we’ll send a dated PDF the same working day. The crew also carries a laminated printed copy in the van and can show the live version on the tablet at your door.
Is public liability cover included separately?
It’s a separate policy but always in force alongside the employer’s cover. Public liability of £5m responds if we damage your property or a third party’s during the clearance — a scratched banister, a cracked slab, a chipped door frame.
Do you carry the certificate on site during the job?
Every van has a laminated copy in the cab and a PDF on the crew tablet. The original hangs at the depot as the HSE requires, dated and initialled at each renewal.
What happens if a crew member is injured at my house?
Our office is the point of contact — not you. The injured crew member reports through us, our insurer handles medical costs and any claim, and you receive written confirmation that the policy is responding. You are not the defendant.
Does the cover extend to day-labour or sub-contracted workers?
Any day-labour we use must be signed in through our DBS-checked roster and is covered under the same policy for the duration of the shift. We don’t put uninsured sub-contractors on your clearance.
How long do you keep past certificates on file?
Every 12 months the policy renews on the same anniversary date, and the office keeps historical certificates for 40 years in line with pre-2008 HSE guidance — we haven’t changed that practice since the rule was relaxed.
